[B]orn into a family of by-the-book traditions and pressures, Yuko,now known as Valerie, was raised to be much like her sisters-- to become a kimono girl and perform in the theatre that had been held in their family for generations. Here in Ecruteak City, she had not the freedom to do as she pleased, and as she watched those around her pursue the life of an educated and bright trainer she was forced to pursue the life of a dancer. And for a dreamer like this young woman, such a lifestyle did not fit her in the slightest. Even under the moral support from her dear friend-- an aspiring Ghost-type specialist-- Valerie's hatred for her lifestyle continued to grow to the point of aggressive rebellion; earning herself the distaste of her parents in order to escape the road set for her in life. And, in doing this, her misbehaviour exponentially grew until, one day, her father had had enough, and shipped the girl off to live with her Uncle in the Kalos region.
After the move, now at the age of thirteen, the aspiring fashion designer adopted the name "Valerie" in lieu of her real one as a sign of starting anew, and to make tracking her whereabouts down rather hard both her father and her sisters. It was here in this region when Valerie was finally able to spread her wings, and in doing so managed to accomplish almost each and every dream that lingered in her mind. From modelling, to designing her own brand of clothing, to opening and running the once ruined gym of Laverre City, this young woman ruthlessly pushed until such vivid scenes of imagination became a reality. And now, in the present time, she dreams to return back to Johto and reunite with that old and dear friend of hers with the hopes that, just maybe, he remembers who she is-- not what she was.
